Two countries

One Territory

The SP-7 project stems from the European initiative Resilient Borders and seeks to jointly plan the future of the Eurocity of the Guadiana: Ayamonte, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António.

Its approach combines sustainability, mobility and cross-border cooperation to build a more resilient and cohesive territory. This process takes place in several phases: territorial diagnosisdefinition of programmes and actions intervention, and finally, the design of the strategic pilot projects.

Out of this shared planning process emerge five pilot actionswhich organise the main lines of work of the Eurocity of Guadiana. Each action sets out a strategic direction and will serve as a framework for the pilot projects to be promoted in the 2030 horizon.

01

Towards a connected Eurocity

02

Towards an orderly Eurocity

04

Towards a cultural Eurocity

05

Towards a well-equipped Eurocity

Each of the five pilot actions is materialised in pilot projects: specific and measurable proposals that transform the territory. These initiatives range from sustainable mobility to the recovery of spaces, cultural tourism and economic cooperation. They are the link between shared planning and the visible reality of the Eurocity of Guadiana.

The interactive geo-viewer allows to explore in a visual and dynamic way the main results of the Piloto Study. Through maps and thematic layers, it shows the strategic projects, management proposals and key areas for the development of the Guadiana Eurocity towards 2030.

European Project for Cross-Border Cooperation

The Guadiana Eurocity takes part in the Resilient Borders initiative, a project co-funded by the European Union that promotes pilot actions at European borders. In cooperation with ARFE and MOT, SP-7 fosters shared territorial planning between Ayamonte, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António.
